FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER.
EVERYTHING WE DO, WE DO FOR OUR B+ HEROES
What is NOVAdance?
NOVAdance is a year-long fundraising effort culminating in a twelve-hour dance marathon each spring at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. In our efforts to support the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, NOVAdance strives to instill hope in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. We raise funds, encourage campus unity, and inspire all to Be Positive and Live Like Andrew!
What is The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation?
The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation (pronounced Be Positive) eponymously honors the memory of Andrew, a 14-year-old athlete and 'A' student from Wilmington, Delaware. On January 27, 2007, Andrew helped lead his team to victory in a state championship soccer tournament. Within 48 hours, he was in cardiac arrest with leukemia (AML) and the doctors didn't expect Andrew to live through the night. Amazingly, Andrew fought for an extra 167 days and went to Heaven on July 14, 2007. Throughout Andrew's illness, he inspired thousands of friends and families. Andrew's Family learned his blood type was B+, which became our motto throughout the fight, to "Be Positive". B+ reflects how Andrew lived his life and how he inspired others to do the same. NOVAdance was created out of his inspiration and to honor his memory.
